Welcome to the club

“Welcome to the club” was a durational participatory work which attempted to breakdown the barriers of exclusivity and judgement that accompany the night club experience while still maintaining some of its rituals.

Rather than people visiting the club, the work turned this upside down by bringing the music and dance to the people within the large warehouse space via a boombox. Still utilising the ritual of entry, a guest pass (given out to everyone prior to the event) was used as a token of admission for people wanting to participate in the work. The roving party that ensued sought to create a new night club experience that was spontaneous, fun and inclusive.
